Almost there...

This evening I'm going to Lafayette, CA, just over the hills to visit Kirk's pad. Daniel Lüthy staying there, since he's back for another visit I have not had a chance to see him. We'll have some dinner and hang out in the warm zone of the "other side of the fog-bet" By the time I got back home, form working in sunny San Anselmo, the fog has settled back in Berkeley and it felt kind of cold. Here at Kirk's it's still in the 90's. He's bought a new pool and first thing when I got there was jumping in. Great place to have one, that's for sure. Kirk grew up in this house that his father build, who knows how long ago. It probably was the only house on that hill. Now it is the only "unmaintained" property in the whole city of Lafayette, but who cares, it's still on top of this one hill, waking distance from BART and just wild. A huge shed is in the back of the property, it has been in decay fro decades, finally collapsed some years ago and is now real spooky looking, there is so much other "junk" laying around it is not even funny, but that's our Kirk. Since Daniel is back some more painting has happen to the main house, it's looking good and when I walked in it also smelled delicious. Daniel made a huge bowl of salad, roasted some Veggies and is frying a piece of aged piece of Beef, and also some fresh Salmon. By the time we're ready to eat Mr. Mark showed up too, what a surprise to see him too, an extra bonus.

Dinner at Kirk's place of wonder...

An unknown sign-language by a bunch of gangster who are up to no-good!!!

Friday, July the 17th It's time for the Sierra's...

I get up early to make 2 more plum-pies for the next adventure before it is time to get ready for the camping trip... packing once more, also I need to get a few more things from Trader Joe's and Berkeley Bowl.

Some good looking guys here...
I hope I can wait that long until it is time to eat them!!!

Like every year the Golden Gate Swiss Club organizes a camping trip into the Sierra's, this year it's Silver Lake. A few years have passed since the last trip I did with these guys. We'll see what's happen this year and what place that is. Stefan Menzi is picking me up at around 11 o'clock and we'll drive his car.
Today he is actually in time, we shove all my stuff into his car and off we go. We take Interstate 80 to Sacramento, then Hwy-50 towards South Lake Tahoe to Pollock Pines, then south/East on Mormon Emigrant Road that connects to Hwy-88. Take a left and just a few miles to Silver Lake.

Another weekend-worrier going off to some adventure...
And the route-map of our drive, 170 Miles from Door to Tent!!!

Here we have a first view to Silver Lake...
Next thing is to find where the Golden Gate Swiss Club is camping this year!!!

3 o'clock happens right at the turn-off to the campground...
Sure looks like we've arrived... it's good to be in the Sierra's again!!!

And what about Me???

My photo
Berkeley, California, United States
My life as a vagabond in the last few years got me to some amazing places, met great people and have lots of stories to share. I love exploring, travel, biking, dancing to Zydeco music, hanging out with friends, biking and many other things to keep me in trouble... best is when I can combine a few of these things together!!! Then there is the photography, writing and might as well do some cooking too, after all eating is another of my favorite thing!!!
