Rafting down the Flathead River, what more fun can one ask for???
We're getting better with the synchronized paddle action...
Because the action is getting better, more rapids are on the way!!!
Of corse in the best situations I can't take any pictures because I'm busy paddling...
This is just too much fun, I wish i'd never ends!!!
This is awesome, just the way things go in live, I just follow one of their busses back down to the office and sign-up for the dinner cruise. This whole thing is super organized, great people, good gear, and a landscape that is magic. I pay 67.41 for the half day with a steak dinner the whole thing is organized by the Glacier Raft Company. There is no other place I want to be right now!!! I wish I could remember more of the details, we set in at a contributory of the Flathead River and than cruised for about 8 miles through a few class 2,3 and 4 rapids, like the "Bone Crusher" and the Pump-House". There is also a photographer out there capturing all the fun we're having here is the link to his photo-album of the raft I was on, YOU HAVE to check it out: Click here for the Slideshow. It takes some time for the initial upload, have fun!!! After all we passed all the rapids the guide offered to go ahead and jump into the water, I wasn't sure if he is serious, but after I watch the young lady across from me disappear, I didn't hesitate any longer and let my self fall backwards into the cold. And clod it is, boy but so much fun too. I think almost half of the people on the raft I was on jumped in later I heard that not many from the other rafts in out group went in what wimps!!!
We passed the town where we started and then pulled the raft on shore. There was a bus waiting for us with the dry cloth I put aside for it. I change and then watch the dinner appear at this little beach set-up. It was fabulous to watch these two guides who are complete opposites of characters, go at it. Our guide was the more serious one he did the set-up for things while the other one was the singing comedy show constantly yapping some words of songs or story while doing the cooking. There was an incident earlier on our boat were one lady got a bleeding nose, still at that time she still needed attention and that was what our tour-guide had to do.
That was it for all the thrills we could get... now it's time to get dry and warm-up
The food was excellent, I was looking forward to eat something different than what I've been eating in the last few days!!!
I had a Steak, done to perfection, with 2 different Salads, there was Chips and Salsa, Veggies and Dips, Bread and I forgot what else. Just a perfect meal along the river. I joined the table with the young lady from across the boat, she had her 21st birthday last week and for her birthday her mom paid for this trip together with her younger brother. So we sat there and chatted a bit. The mother is a baker in Missoula, the 21 year old works as a waitress in that town and plans to be going to law-school while the kid is still in school. A fine family affair.
After all these food was gone for no other reason than this a cheesecake appeared out of the cooler, and we're back at the table eating more I'm pretty happy now, all I want now is to take this young lady back with and camp somewhere along this river... but instead we all hop into the buss and get dropped off at the starting point. It's time to fine a campsite for tonight by myself of corse!!!
I don't have to drive too far to find a Campground in this town, and paying less than 13 bucks is unheard off nowadays...
Off corse that comes with a fair amount of mosquitos!!!
I had the hardest time to figure out how to synchronize my Palm Pilot with the computer, first I can't find the cable for it, dang I could swear it was just here the other day, then the Bluetooth Synchronization did not work until I figured out what I've been doing wrong. Bingo now I have the story I've written last night at the campsite in my computer. Now I can edit it and add all the HTML fun stuff to it and upload it while sitting outside in front of the campground office until the wee-hours, getting slowly eaten by a few mosquitos at the time.
Thursday, June 25th It's time to go to the sun... I says!!!
Another beautiful morning in Montana!!!
Now it's time to go to the sun, all I ever hear form everybody is to drive the Going-to-the-Sun road, unfortunately the pass is still closed, otherwise I would have driven it from the East side over instead of taking US Route 2 but then maybe I would not have gone on a rafting trip, so it all worked out well. After breakfast and packing-up the car I'm off towards the sun.

A short drive through the town of West Glacier caught me in a long line to get back into the Park...
But once back inside the Glacier National Park things look beautiful, like Lake McDonald and it's creek!!!
I stop again at the McDonald Creek, interesting stone-formations and a roaring river...
Make the tourist just stare at this wonder...

After that the road finally starts to gain some elevation...
And a different view starts growing on me, snow-covered peaks and a deep Valley!!!

Another stop at another contrubitory creek, with great rocks and neat flowers...
A huge wildfire many years ago destroid a lot of forest in this area, but they happen regularly because of lightning!!!
At one point on this slow journey towards the sun the road was closed for the time that construction-trucks could go back and forth to do what they had to do...
I enjoy the vistas and get entertained by the red tourist vans and even get to nap a bit!!!

Finally these trucks show-up, a whole slew of them some going down and later some are going up...
It was amusing to see all this action, specially when these purple trucks came by I had to think of Carolyn Casey, the lady in purple herself!!!
The wait is over the job must be done, the traffic flows again...
I make it to the top of the Logan Pass 6646 ft!!!
Now it's time to turn around I've seen enough...

It's shortly before 3 o'clock, some guy offered to take my picture with the EXIT sign, I'm anxious to be gone!!!
That's it I actually waited for it to be 3 o'clock, now I can get back down!!!
