I was eating some lunch type kind of food on my way back from the Logan Pass. More Cheese, the rest of the Summer Sausage with Chips and a few slices of Bread. All this while I had to wait again on the way down, these construction-trucks had to go up and down again while the rest of us had to hug the "wall" along the mountain and wait. Now I'm parked in front of the Conoco gas-station and keep starring at the Huckleberry Pie sign, I cave in and buy myself a piece to go, yes please pack it into one of these stupid Styrofoam to-go-box, no I don't need another plastic fork, and off I go.
Then it's US-2 again, yes further West it is, I have now the urgency to get home, I'm done with this trip, I've seen so much and I'm in need for some company but nothing has worked out on more friends to visit on the way home and that's alright too. I do feel a bit of a homesickness!
The road out West gets me to Kalispell in no time. Here I find a grocery-store and shop for more food for the next few days. I spend 21 bucks on some more Cheese, a "real" Bread, Yogurt, a 4 pack of some sweet Muffins and who knows what else.
Out in the parking-lot I see this "real" Safari-rig build by a German Company...
Where do they think they are going here in this country??? And to top things off they had a Swiss License-plate... even better, one from Zurich!!!
I thought it was extra funny because off driving through the town of Zurich a couple of days ago, and now another indicator that these guys are everywhere!!!
It's just past five thirty and I'm back on the road, not many towns are along the way for now. I'm sitting in my car and I'm still achy from yesterdays hike it really took a lot out of me, I also feel like I have one of these headaches coming on... I can't stand this. I drink more water, I take some more vitamins and try to stay awake while driving through this gorgeous valley. It's 87 miles to the next bigger town, Libby. I cross an Ashley Creek that makes me think of that sweet women I met at this years GMC, I pass through towns like, Kila, Happy's Inn, and Maricke, then Libby. Now its only 31 miles to get out of Montana!

Idaho the Potato State

It's quarter to seven now after taking the hour off from the Mountain time I'm back in California time now. I'm supposed to feel better now but I don't, that dull headache is bothering me I'm really tired and ready to pay for a motel to spend the night comfortably in a bed. But no major town is in sight yet. At the intersection where US-95 and US-2 meet is a gas-station more of that is needed first, I pay 2.799 per gallon here and I also need another quart of oil to ad to the engine, other than that all is well. Onward, now the road points south and the town of Bonners Ferry is getting closer. After crossing the Kootenai River I pass the old part of town and the road climbs back up on the other side of the valley, a few minutes later I see a motel that looks reasonable, I check and the guy at the front-desk offered me to camp for 10 bucks instead of the 60 dollar room which was a bit too high for me. I go for it, set-up my tent in the back and then treat myself for a dinner at a restaurant instead of eating at the campsite. There was not even a table or a bench there to get comfortable. What a relieve to know that I don't have to cook or wash dishes or anything like that!
I saw this Restaurant right before the Motel and so I walked a block back, I was ready for some Burger and Fries...
The place was a bit confusing, but really nice, the food was delicious, even though no Burger and Fries, but Mexican instead!!!

Back at the Ranch... not much I can do other than go to sleep!!!
Friday, June 26th where is the "instant-be-home" button on my dashboard???
It's the Birthday if Todd Williams in Santa Fe, MN, happy birthday ol' Buddy!!!
It's the Birthday if Todd Williams in Santa Fe, MN, happy birthday ol' Buddy!!!
By 10 o'clock I'm back on the road US-2 here is shared with US-95 and goes straight south to the town of Sandpoint. Just before that town I saw a sign pointing to a Swiss attraction, the Schweitzer Mountain Resort but I didn't feel like looking any further into it. I still have this headache and it is bothering me a lot now. I finally take some Ibuprofen to see if I get some relieve!
A short stop in the town of Sandpoint, gives me a chance to walk around...
All these interesting roads and not enough lust for it right now!!!
After Sandpoint US-95 keeps on going further South, almost to Boise, ID and there it goes into Oregon, US Route 2 goes further west here and I follow Lake Pend Oreille. This lake must get its name because it does look like an ear, or in french Oreille. The the town of Dover, Laclede, to Priest River. The it's time to cross over the Pend Oreille River to the State of Washington. The time is Eleven fifteen and the milage of this trip is 9'730.
Washington the Evergreen State!!!
It's getting miles behind me now, Little bit more than an hour later I'm driving in the outskirts of Spokane. The weather is hot and my headache has faded away. I stop at a gas-station here to get more hot water for some tea a cup of hot brown water and a Snickers bar that I will eat parallel with the last Banana I have. Live is good and I hop onto the first Interstate since I got into Michigan's Upper Peninsula 2424 miles ago. Here I-90 is part of US-2 but not for long. Two exits later US-2 is going it's own way further out West, while I stay on the Interstate going South-West. Drinking coffee, eating the Snickers bar and the banana.
At quarter past one I stop at the Rest-Area and actually take out my yoga-mat and a pillow and go to sleep on the grass for some time, I can't stay awake another mile.
The 30 minute nap did wonders. Onwards for another 23 miles until I exit the Freeway to continue on US-395 going South.
At the Intersection of US-395 and WA-26 I stop again this time at a gas-station...
I get some fried Chicken and make some phone-calls. While it is 3 o'clock I'm talking with Jutta back n Switzerland, the "real" Switzerland!!!
