Maybe a little reminder, from truck to me!!!
Back on traveling North on Interstate 79. I exit at mile 67 to continue on a small country-road. I follow Rt-4 that passes through towns like, Heaters, Ireland, Rock Cave, French Creek, Adrian to the town of Buckhannon.
Beautiful Country-side in West Virginia...
Here in Buckhannon I park, have a stroll through town, discover that their world famous Strawberry Festival is about to start. The fairgrounds is ready, seeing the same stands and booths I saw a few weeks back in Breaux Bridge, LA at the Crawfish Festival.
Buckhannon, WV, where the party is going to be this weekend...
I find a Cafe and hang out a bit, sipping a finely made Cafe Late, with steamed Half & Half, and do some e-mailing on the computer, see where I gonna go, DC is an option or straight to NYC. Will see who's calling and what will brew together by tomorrow. I talked with Sahra back in Memphis and then I hot the road again, trying to find Hwy-33. I find the freeway-entrance but it is blocked by a fire-truck, lights blinking everywhere, Police buzzing around and all that Jazz, I follow this truck in front of me who turned right onto the Frontage Road, I figured he knows where to go. There is a bunch of cars and trucks standing on the freeway next to the Frontage Road. At the next intersection I see the problem, a utility pole must have broken in half and a thick Telephone-trunk-cable is laying all the way across the freeway, what a mess, but some of the guys from the phone company are already at work. I go on the freeway and drive into the hills. Then the phone rings again, it is Bonnie from Minneapolis checkin in with me. I pull over and we talk for a bit, It has been a while since we talked, I still need to hear more stories of her trip to the Himalayas. It's getting dark and I better move on. After driving 272 miles today I book another night in a motel in Elkin, West Virginia.
Here the internet does not work because the lines are down, the lady at the front-dest explains to me, well it must be that cable that was laying across Hwy-33 just outside of Buckhannon.
Once I got all my stuff I need for tonight into the room I go for a to town. Find a Kroger Grocery Store and shop for some grub. While I'm in the store Vicky Winter form New York calls me, we have to figure out the timing of me getting into town. I wanna hear what the Zydeco Scene is this weekend. New York looks promising by the minute, I think DC is to be left out.
Another night in a Motel along the road...

The Elkins Econo Lodge on Rt-33 in West Virginia.
In the morning the internet is working again, I get some more things done, but feel antsy for some exercise, I have to do something about that today, I just be sitting in the car driving, sitting in a room doing stuff on the computer and then I sleep the rest of the time. After all this looks like some promising country, how about a hike.
I drive for a little bit more than an hour, keep following Rt-33 further East into the Allegheny Mountains. Some serious ups and downs with steep turns, the works after all that flat Louisiana...
Also a curious herd of heifers trying to figure out if I have some news for them...
Crossing the Eastern Divide in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia...
In the town of Seneca Rocks I leave Rt-33 and turn left onto WV-55, and right there is a parking-lot with a trail-head to some promising pieces of rock way up there. I go for a hike!!!

Finally doing something different, a hike up to the Seneca Rock outcropping, a mere 1000 Ft elevation gain from the parking-lot...
Once on top, I enjoy a fabulous view of more mountains covered in lots of forest, I also spot to climbers enjoying the view after accomplishing the accent...
Or maybe these guys got up here like me???

After climbing down the illegal section of these rocks I hike some more in the other direction, it's good to be up here, listening to birds and seeing all kinds of different trees.
Dogwood in the woods and some broken down fence of the Wild and Wonderful State...

By the time I'm back down at the parking-lot it's time to eat some lunch, I'm hungry and thirsty, lets take care of that now, I do have plenty of things to get my sticky fingers onto.
Back on the road, it's getting tricky now, because the AAA map I have does not show all the roads and I'm trying to find my way to Hopeville and from there to another road that goes to nowhere, for some odd reason I end up in Petersburg, never seen a sign of Hopeville, I was hoping I would...
3 o'clock and I'm wondering how I ended up in Petersburg, and where was Hopeville I was hoping to see...
