Putting Miles behind...

Another DD on-route, this time at a service station off Interstate 90

But before I can have my Coffee and Doughnut I had to get into the State of New York. hat happened at 3:30 after passing the toll-plaza of I-90 in Massachusetts. Also in New York the Interstate 90 is a Toll-road before Albany I-90 splits of I-87. From then on I-87 is the Toll-road and so I have to pay $0.80 to get off the toll-road to stay on I-90, Complicated, I actually could have stayed on the Toll-road to get around Albany but who knows what difference it made at this time, maybe during rush-hour it is a better way to take. After Albany I-90 is the Toll-road again and I have to get a ticket. But it is a free stretch again to the split of I-88.

More bad weather ahead, luckily not much traffic, just many miles ahead...

A Truck that crashed, gets recovered while another one sends out inspiration...

I-88 brings me to Binghampton and onto I-81 South for just a few miles, then I take Rt-17 West. This road is called the "Southern Tier Expressway" and will be a Interstate soon. At Quarter past seven it's time to find gas again, here in Elmira the gallon of regular costs me 2.729. I get almost 10.3 gallons, that means I was running very low on gas once more in my life. I also have to add yet another quart of oil to the working horse. Back on the Freeway for another hour. Right before Bath I see a sign along the freeway telling me that there is a campground at the next exit, lets go have a look. I love it, the campground is more than 5 miles away from the freeway, in a wide valley with a little lake.

It's time to find a home for tonight, camping sounds like the right thing to do...

A beautiful place to spend a night, The Babcock Hollow Campground means camping right at the lake!!!

Thanks to the long days I can hang out and get some more stuff done on the computer, editing a few more pictures and get them ready for uploading once I'm on-line again. At some point of time the lady drive by on her gas-powered golf-cart and charges me 16 bucks for the night. I give her a twenty dollar bill and off she goes to get the change. Again on her gas-powered cart she brings me 4 dollars in change, just to buzz her fat ass back into the trailer right over there, boy, if laziness would make you rich she would not have to run a campground anymore! I eat some chips and salsa, cut into some cheese and tomato with bread and salami and next thing is that my eyes are not able to be open any longer... it's time to get some z's...

It is nice and quite here, just a few mosquitos but lots of stars instead...

The locals are out on a tour... while I get myself some grub too!!!

My breakfast consist of Muessly again, a fresh yogurt from Organic Whole Milk flavored with Organic Maple Syrup, mixed with Granola, half an Apple and a Banana. Hot tea and during this whole time I'm eating I break down the tent, and pack everything back into the car.

29 more exits until the Pennsylvania State-line!!!

I leave at 9 o'clock, drive the 5 miles back to Interstate 86 and continue to the West. 38 more exits to the Pennsylvania State-line. Just before noon I get there. 8 miles later I join the I-90 again While driving in northern Pennsylvania on I-90 I get a call form Jan Gunn, a long time friend and client, she is securing me a job for when I get back home, a remodel in San Anselmo, that will keep me busy for a week or so. A fine thing to make some money, a hard thing to think about work again, ohh boy, I guess I can't be on the road forever, right!

Only 47 miles to get across the whole state of Pennsylvania, right here at the North-Western part of the state, right along Lake Erie, then I'm in Ohio. Here I want to go to a Park on Lake Erie, have some lunch and stick me feet into the cold water of this Ocean-size lake. So I leave I-90 and take a small road towards Madison. There I see this huge steam-plume rising from the cooling-tower of a nuclear power-plant in Perry.

Not a pretty sight, the cloud is visible all the way to Cleveland...

The Perry Nuclear Power Plant, in plain view!!!

Nearby is the Morton Salt with the Fairport Mine...

I finally get to Headlands Beach State Park at Lake Erie...

Here I kick back for a bit, a short walk to the beach after some snacking out of the back of the car, later I realize that I forgot to get my Flip-Flops from the beach... too late now!!! I'm already in Cleveland now.

At 3 o'clock I battle traffic in Cleveland, somehow I-90 gets detoured via the truck-route around the city...
I drove 611 miles since yesterday at 3 pm!!!

And what about Me???

My photo
Berkeley, California, United States
My life as a vagabond in the last few years got me to some amazing places, met great people and have lots of stories to share. I love exploring, travel, biking, dancing to Zydeco music, hanging out with friends, biking and many other things to keep me in trouble... best is when I can combine a few of these things together!!! Then there is the photography, writing and might as well do some cooking too, after all eating is another of my favorite thing!!!
