Waking-up for a deep nap in the room of Greatful Dead souvenirs!!!
I wake-up because I can hear Lock rummaging around the house, I'm not even sure what time it is, but it is still bright out. I met Lock Kirmaier the first time in August 2003, at his favorite place in his world: Matinicus Island, ME. When Elaine and I where on our East-coast tour, Matinicus was one of our stopping-point, so I can meet Lock.
I never made it back to see him on the island again, but have stopped many times here at his house in Augusta, where he lives, plays and works. His house is a remodel in progress for many years now but every time something else is done. Not sure what it is this year but I'm sure he'll tell me soon. But first we got a plan to execute!
I go shopping with him, we need some groceries for a B.B.Q. dinner tonight, his friend Janet Pooley is coming over to join us soon. Back at the house Lock is making us some mean Gin-Tonic's just as Janet joins shows up at the porch.
Life is good out on the porch, having a cocktail with Lock, Janet, and Tom...
Tom is a friend of Lock and they work together at the State-house, and so does Janet!!!
Lock outdid himself with some grilled chicken and corn on the cob, we're all stuffed and winding down for another good-nights sleep. Of corse before I hit the hay I battle e-mail, facebook and this blog!
In the morning I join Lock for walking the dogs, he lives in a very nice old neighborhood...
Unfortunately that nice Victorian is not where Lock lives!!!
Its time to eat again, we drive over the hill to a great breakfast place, forgot to take a picture and therefore don't remember the name of the place, duhh! But we get a very good meal, I have what seems my usual Morning Glory special, 2 eggs, sausage, home-fries, biscuit and gravy. I also get o load of grits, dang I didn't read that on the menu, the only grits I've been eating is the Andouille-Cheese Grits the way they make it at the Cafe Des Amis in Breaux Bridge, the rest is to plug holes in the walls, interior use only please! Then drive back home with full bellies. Then it's time for Lock to get serious, he has to go to work, fun is over for him and so it is for me as I try to catch-up with this blog here. I have way to many things to talk about and definitely not enough time for it.
Poor Lock has to go to work... somebody has to make some money here...
Now it's just me and the dogs... luckily they are on their own in the backyard!!!
Doomed to write and recall all the wonderful things of the past week at Camp Kieve in Lock's beautiful house...
The newest progress at his house is the improved landscape and vegetable-garden!!!
At 12:30 it's time for me to hit the road again, no I'm not really ready for it, still way too tired and far away form caught-up with photos and blog, but I made a arrangement with John and Mila Waldman in Amherst, MA. So I better get going. First lets get some gas. Here it is $2.659 per Gallon, I need 7.582 Gallons and 2 quarts of oil.
Driving south on Interstate 95, the Honda is passing the 288 thousand mile mark...

The I-95 here in Maine is a Turnpike and therefore one has to pay a toll to travel fast through this state, I decide to go that route, I've left Lock's house through so many different ways that it is time to give the interstate a try. I pay $5.- for the 110 miles to get to the New Hampshire State-line. Another $1.50 for the New Hampshire Turnpike to cover the 18 miles to Massachusetts.
Toll-plazas along the interstate to collect...

Now it is time to find a coffee and a doughnut, 3 o'clock is near and my body could use some movement, caffeine, sugar and another nap.
3 o'clock means another stop at a Dunkin Donuts, never know when it is the last one...
thee is a constant flow of cars coming by the drive-by window, while the inside is empty!!!
No dunking my doughnut into this coffee...
