A Fixing of a Garbage-can...

Lafayette Square on a Wednesday afternoon... Marcia Ball is playing!!!

Another great Program ahead, I don't know how anybody can live here, there is a constant flow of events, concerts, festivals and parties, just what my doctor ordered, but really how do they do it???
Today on the program is at the Lafayette Square, a free concert that happens every Wednesday at the Square in downtown New Orleans. I got a treatment by Marva Wright followed by Marcia Ball
I use this opportunity to get a bike-ride in, it's just about 6 miles from Karen's house. KAren and Jean went together and we all meet on the square and secure a spot with chairs. We had to wait until 5 before the sell alcoholic beverages, since we were way to early we had to wait. It is a great atmosphere and people are arriving in hordes.
Later as I'm listening to Marva, one women comes up to me, remembering me from last years Zydeco Festival in Plaisance, LA, over the Laborday Weekend, and asks me how I evacuated from Gustav... We chatted for a while, found out that we know the same people in Lafayette and then Marcia Ball came on stage and that was it...

Bright sun and lots of people, that's what make a gathering worth going to...

Buildings and Sun...

Marcia Ball and the crowd...

On my way home on the bike I had to stop again at the cemeteries on top of Canal Street and City Park, a surreal look with the evening sky and light-up tombs.

Karen and I ate some more of the leftover quiche with salad and then off to Rock n' Bowl for a another dose of Zydeco. We decided to go on Wednesday eve instead on Thursday. Normally Zydeco is on Thursday night, but on a Jazz Fest night it is not a good idea to go on a that night. Last year I went there with Christoph and Ina and it was the biggest disappointment because there were almost no dancers there, and I was so excited to show them the "real" action. So this year we're smarter, going on Wednesday to listen t Nathan & the Zydeco Cha Chas. There was just one problem, Natahn, well he's just a bit too slow or I don't know what, can't get into the groove, but still a lot of dancers showed up and it was fun to see a few familiar faces.

Lots of familiar faces, besides mine...

Now without me...

I didn't quite close the place down, there be more of that later, might as well safe the energy for that.

After a good nights rest, I could not get out of bed before nine this morning, I was on a quest to find a replacement blade for the lawn-mower that I bend yesterday. Mark, the neighbor was out on the street and so I went over to him to explain the scenario, he just laughs about it and tells me that every time he borrows something he breaks something, so that's just it. He told me to go to Lowe's but I already dod my homework and found a local repair-shop who has a blade in stock. I make another bike-ride out of that and an hour later I install the new blade onto the lawnmower, and the neighborhood-peace is reinstated. But not for long.

Shopping for a new lawnmower blade, Sabine in her "new" office...

Karen and I decided to have lunch at the Port of Call restaurant near the French Quarter in New Orleans and we wanna go there by car. Sabine parks her car behind Karen's and so she had to back-out first. But what she did was driving over a empty trash-can that the wind blew out onto the street. Again Mark, the neighbor come to the rescue and pulls that darn thing out from under her car. Totally trashed, and that's not what you what a trash-can to be. Anyway, amusing it is, and Sabine feels sufficiently embarrassed and we drive off to the lunch-spot laughing.
Port of Call is a place I heard about it from Sharon and Karen a long time ago, always wanted to go there and eat their burgers and finally years later here I am. Digging my teeth into a juice burger and a backed potato, NOW peace is reinstated, for today anyway!!!

Back home after lunch I had to dig deep into resources to fix the trash-can... I know my mom told me to stay out of the trash, but this time I could not help myself...

No, that's not me dumpster-diving, just fixing the can instead of trashing it...

And what about Me???

My photo
Berkeley, California, United States
My life as a vagabond in the last few years got me to some amazing places, met great people and have lots of stories to share. I love exploring, travel, biking, dancing to Zydeco music, hanging out with friends, biking and many other things to keep me in trouble... best is when I can combine a few of these things together!!! Then there is the photography, writing and might as well do some cooking too, after all eating is another of my favorite thing!!!
